USAID, TIP ink pact for ‘Anti-Fraud Hotline’ project

KARACHI: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) on Wednesday signed a cooperative agreement on Wednesday for the ‘Anti-Fraud Hotline’ project.

The objective of the project is to ensure transparency and prevention of corruption in the utilisation of $7.5 billion grant to be provided to Pakistan under the Kerry Lugar Bill, a statement said.
USAID Agreement Officer Aman S Djhanbani and TIP Chairman Syed Adil Gilani inked the agreement in Islamabad.
This will be achieved by ensuring that all procurements of the USAID funds are made under the Pakistan Public Procurement Rules 2004 by all government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), a statement said.
Citizens and civil society organisations will be provided awareness through print and electronic media, so as to enable them to report corruption that they may witness in USAID funded projects.
An ‘Anti-Fraud Hotline’ will be established by TIP where corruption related complaints in the USAID funded projects can be registered through the web, email, fax and phone or by post.
